Today Huawei held a conference and officially launched the next full-screen smartphone designed for younger customers mainly. This statement means it should be priced relatively low and come with features required by students or people with active lifestyle. Fortunately, the Huawei Nova 2S sports many features with the aforementioned specs and costs too low. We have already got our hands on this amazing smartphone, and we are offering to take a glance at it right now. But before that, we should get acquainted with the key features the Nova 2S comes with to understand what’s hidden under its beauty.
The Huawei Nova 2S uses a double-glass body design accompanied by a metal frame. The back provides a gradient coloring due to special technologies used for the rear panel. There are up to five color options you can choose from – Obsidian black, Sakura pink, Silver diamond gray, Acacia red, and blue. All models have already become available for pre-order, but the red variant is reserved for Holiday sales only. Besides the housing color, each of these models comes with its own wallpaper and theme. So each phone looks identical.
As for the screen, it comes with a 6.0-inch full-screen with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels, 18:9 aspect ratio, and 12% of FOV. There are very narrow bezels making the display looking larger. However, the company decided to come in with another design and used a home button below the display. It carries a fingerprint scanner under the oval-shaped key. But this button can also be used for various operations such as return (click), homescreen (long press), and the resent tasks (swipes to left and right). Thanks to the existence of an NFC chip, you can make fingerprint payments.
The next selling point is the quad-camera ‘nature’ of the Nova 2S. the front camera uses a 20+2MP sensors set. So your selfies can come with a blurred background. Plus, it is coupled with a full-spectrum soft light providing more real photos. The front shooter comes with tons of effects such as 3D makeup, a concealer pen, eyebrow pencil, and supports gender identification.
On the back, the Huawei Nova 2S sports a 20+16MP bionic dual-camera imitating the human eye imaging mechanism. It comes with an aperture of f/1.8 and 2-in-1 PDAF dual-core focus. Thanks to larger aperture and good lenses it is capable of taking great photos in both good and low-light conditions. Plus, this camera supports 4K HD video recording.
Though this phone doesn’t sport the latest AI chip named Kirin 970, it still uses a great chip of Kirin 960. There is also a 3240mAh battery, 6GB of RAM, 4G connectivity, Skynet global access, speech recognition + noise cancellation and so on.
The Huawei Nova 2S runs on EMUI 8.0 that comes with myriads of goodies such as gaming acceleration, ‘do not disturb during gaming’ option, smart messaging, express reminders, and fast face unlock feature. The latter works very fast once you lift the phone to the face. There is a special optimized algorithm effectively preventing from unlocking with closed eyes.
The Huawei Nova 2S comes in three versions. The 4+64GB variant is priced at ($258), the 6+64GB at ($285), and the 6+128GB model is available for ($313). The phone will be available for pre-order starting December 7 and will go on sale on December 12.
